(Beijing, July 30, 2024) Empyrean Tech Inc, China's EDA leader, recently announced that Renesas Electronics Corporation (“Renesas”), one of the world's leading semiconductor companies, has introduced Empyrean Skipper® into their design flow.
The Empyrean Skipper® product line is a tool for IC layout viewing, analysis, and modification, capable of high-speed reading of ultra-large chip data and layout management schemes to increase engineer productivity. Ultra-large chips using advanced processes, especially chips for communications, HPC, and AI, often contain tens or hundreds of gigabytes of layout data, and in the later stages of chip design, the layout data must be opened many times for checks, analysis, and modifications. Previous tools require a great deal of time and effort to perform these tasks, while Skipper is able to read tens of GB of data in ten minutes saving engineers valuable time.
"With the increasing complexity of design, the scale of chips is also becoming larger. The time required to read and analyze layout data has also significantly increased, consuming a lot of our engineers' time. We look forward to using Empyrean Skipper® to solve this problem," said Yukio Minoda, Director of Digital Backend Design Technology at Renesas.
Dong Senhua, the general manager of the EDA Engineering Center of Empyrean, said, "Empyrean Skipper® is a core solution for Empyrean circuit design products, and we are very pleased to receive this recognition from Renesas, one of the industry leaders. In addition to faster read speeds, Skipper also has the ability to share data with multiple people through memory sharing for a single design data and to manage concurrent work within a team. These are all proprietary technologies tailored to ultra-large chip designs, and we believe they will help Renesas succeed in many more areas."
